19th July 2010
Cambrian Wharf to Hockley Port. BCN.
Start off the day by pootling back to Hockley and then taking R_ back to get his car. I moor the Cat
by the sanny station (stern first), as I intend to sort out the waste tank on my return. Say goodbye
to R_ who makes me the present of
lovely book before leaving. Buy one.
On my return I set about uncoiling my **** hose and attaching it to the pump out. Switch on, and oh
dear there's kinks everywhere! Switch it off, straighten out the hose and try again. This time the pipe
just oscillates a bit, but nothing comes through. With some reluctance I dismantle the pump to discover
the cause. Euch #1. The non-return valves have blown inside out, probably from fighting the pressure in
the outlet pipe. So I pop them back and try again. This time it appears to be working, but a look into
the tank (euch #2) shows that things are progressing slowly. So I have lunch (strong stomach, hein?).
After which, I re-discover that the pump is not pumping. Arse. My patience is now ended, and I
take off the pipe (euch #3) and attempt to rinse it out before stowing (euch #4). This proves nigh on
impossible as it is remarkably reluctant to inflate. I decide to leave it outside, just in case, and
manoeuvre the Cat back into her proper berth. I shall have to think about this.
